Sources of Immigration law and general principles
• The main piece of legislation dealing with immigration law is the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011. The act provides the rules the governing the procedure of applying for a work permit, issuance of work permits and invalidation of the same.
• Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Regulations 2012. The regulations provides rules for the operation of the 2011 Act
• Kenya Constitution 2010.
• The Kenya Citizenship and Foreign Nationals Management Service Act 2011.

Work Permit?
A work permit, is a document issued by Kenyan Immigration department that proves that the holder is authorized to work in Kenya. The permit is issued under section 40 Kenyan Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011.
